Iroshizuku, Tsuki-yo

This is my favorite blue-ish teal ink: Iroshizuku Tsuki-yo. It’s produced by the Japanese brand Pilot and Irooshizuku is the name of the ink line.

I have been collecting beautiful fountain pen inks for years and tried as many brands as possible. This one is however definitely the ink that I always go back for.

This article contains an affiliate link, but all opinions are mine.

Iroshizuku Tsuki-yo facts

Brand: Iroshizuku by Pilot (Japanese)
Ink name: Tsuki-yo
Ink color: Dark blueish teal
Package: Silver with beautiful graphic design
Bottle: Handmade of glass, each bottle is unique

It’s one of the more famous premium fountain pen ink brands, quite a lot pricier than cheaper brands such as Diamond. But the price is definitely worth it if you can afford it.

Why I love this fountain pen ink

The color is a beautiful dark teal ink, leaning towards the blue side. It’s such a perfect shade of teal.

It fits all occasions: school, work, and private use.

Every single large Iroshizuku bottle is handmade glass, so no bottle will be exactly the same as any other. For me, that makes the bottle in itself a piece of art and something I appreciate. The shape looks very elegant, with a great distinction between the parts that hold the dark ink, and the parts that are transparent. At the bottom, there’s a small “V” shape down, so that you can more easily catch every single drop of ink.

It’s reliable. It has never behaved weirdly. I’ve never experienced the color changing, and it doesn’t oxidise in any noticeable way. The ink flows well and steadily from any pen I’ve used it in, and looks great on any paper.

The only not-so-great thing

The only downside would be the price (it’s quite expensive). But you also do get what you pay for and I personally think it’s worth it to every day be able to use beautiful ink. It’s a pleasure in life.

I highly recommend it if you haven’t tried it yet!

You can buy it here >

Thank you for reading,
Wendy

Interested in reading more?

Here are a few of my other articles

My Top 3 Favorite Fountain Pens

List of the 3 best teal fountain pen inks

Iroshizuku is a Japanese fountain pen ink brand by Pilot.
