Learn UX/UI Design: Books to read to learn the basics

The best ways to get started learning UX/UI design is by reading books, articles and watching tutorials. In this article, I’ll present 4 fundamental books about UX and UI that I myself got started with.

  1. About Face: The Essentials of Interaction Design by Alan Cooper
  2. The Elements of User Experience by Jesse James Garrett
  3. Don’t Make Me Think by Steve Krug
  4. The Design of Everyday Things by Donald Norman

These four books, however, have somewhat different focuses. The first two books “About Face” and “The Elements of User Experience” are more practical books, that go into the design process. The last two books “Don’t Make Me Think” and “The Design of Everyday Thing” is more about the thought process behind UX design.

Hopefully, these books will help you as well with getting started.
